Association "Friends in Kazakhstan"

Fair of work products

Leila and Gianat
We started printing on the bags we produce drawings by two boys who are very important to our center. The first is Zhanat, a boy with autism, who started attending our center a year ago because he could not find real help in other centers. At first, we were unsure which course to choose, but fortunately, he now attends a psychologist, corrective gymnastics and art therapy. He really likes to draw, and now he can use different colors and maintain boundaries. We decided to invest in this hobby of his, because this activity calms and pacifies him. Zhanat is 17 years old, he is an only child, he has a dad and mom who are always with him, except for the hours when he comes to the center. He comes here twice a week and always has to stick to a daily routine, otherwise he cannot calm down. This is part of his syndrome, but we are happy that now he has activities that are interesting to him and that help him improve!
The second one is Leila: she is 13 years old and has been coming to our center for several years. Leila lives with her mother and sister, and her father fell ill with Covid and, unfortunately, passed away. She has Down syndrome and also a heart defect, for which she takes cortisone. She has to be very careful, because any infection can be fatal, so she always stays at home. She loves to draw, make necklaces, play with beads. Many years ago, she attended a clinic at the center, where the teacher liked her and began to come to her home to make her draw. Over the years, she has become very beautiful and has made some very beautiful drawings for our bags. One company decided to give her a year of drawing with our teacher, as well as painting and drawing materials. Our idea is to continue to pay for her drawing courses in the coming years from part of the proceeds from the sale of bags.
A story
Rinat
Rinat is a 14-year-old teenager, he lives with his mother and older brother in a small room. His mother works at a flea market, a local market, where she sells food that she cooks at home. Renat has been coming to our center for several years, he has cerebral palsy, which has led to mental retardation, although he is not bedridden. He never went to school, but he had a teacher who came to his home together with a social worker from the center. In the last three months, we met Jenya, a friend who helped us during sales and was willing to help us. We asked him if he would like to help Rinat, and from that moment on she began to pay for transportation to bring him to our center. Now she comes twice a week, attends a course of boiled wool and consultations: a psychologist, a physiotherapist and a speech therapist. Thanks to the work started at the center, he has changed a lot: he began to smile, he has developed good relationships with specialists. In addition, he has developed a great desire to study and get to know the children with whom he attends the course.
